Nvidia and Hyundai deepen AI and robotics partnership

Investing.com -- Nvidia Corp. and Hyundai Motor Group announced an expansion of their partnership focused on physical AI and robotics applications during a meeting in Seoul on Monday.

Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang and Hyundai Motor Executive Chair Chung Euisun discussed plans to advance their collaboration across mobility, manufacturing and robotics sectors. The companies aim to move robotics technology from research facilities to factory production lines.

The partnership will utilize Hyundai's manufacturing infrastructure to develop platforms with global reach. Hyundai's Atlas humanoid robot, which appeared at the CES technology show in January, represents a production-ready model that has drawn investor interest.

Huang said the companies are getting "very very close" to industrializing robotics and plan to bring AI to "all forms of mobility." He pointed to Hyundai's manufacturing capabilities as central to advancing this transition.

"Hyundai is incredible at manufacturing, incredible at mobility, incredible at heavy industries, manufacturing at extremely large scales," Huang told reporters. "No one is in a better position to take advantage of that and to create that than Hyundai."

The executives discussed Hyundai's 9 trillion won ($5.9 billion) project in Saemangeum, a western port city. The initiative includes an AI data center, a robot manufacturing cluster and a hydrogen plant. Huang referred to the location as South Korea's "AI Valley."

Chung said additional investment will flow into the city and suggested the companies could establish a "perfect AI ecosystem" with a joint data hub if Nvidia joins the project.

Before their meeting, Chung showed Huang through Hyundai's renovated headquarters lobby, which functions as a "physical AI testbed" with robots performing security, delivery and plant watering tasks.
