Morgan Stanley tracks prescription trends for US neurology drugs
Investing.com -- Morgan Stanley released its weekly prescription tracking data for select US neurology products based on IQVIA data for the week ending May 29.
The US antipsychotic market showed total prescriptions grew 2.9% year-over-year for the week, which included the Memorial Day holiday. The rolling 4-week total prescription count increased 2.6% year-over-year, while the rolling 12-week count rose 2.2% year-over-year.
Week-over-week, total prescriptions for antipsychotics declined 8.8%, compared to a 2.5% increase in the prior week.
Total prescriptions for bipolar depression medications fell 8.1% week-over-week. The rolling 4-week total prescription count decreased 1.7% week-over-week. Year-over-year growth stood at 3.8% for the current week, 3.4% for the rolling 4-week period, and 2.8% for the rolling 12-week period.
Acadia's Nuplazid for Parkinson's disease psychosis saw weekly total prescriptions drop 2% week-over-week and rise 2% year-over-year. The rolling 12-week count fell 1% year-over-year. New prescriptions represented 46% of total prescriptions for the week.
Axsome's Auvelity for major depressive disorder recorded weekly total prescriptions down 8% week-over-week and up 34% year-over-year. The rolling 12-week count increased 32% year-over-year. New prescriptions accounted for 57% of total prescriptions for the week.
Neurocrine's Ingrezza for tardive dyskinesia and Huntington's disease chorea posted weekly total prescriptions down 14% week-over-week and up 19% year-over-year. The rolling 12-week count grew 23% year-over-year. New prescriptions made up 44% of total prescriptions for the week.
