June 4, 2026 12:11 PM

Cash App announced the launch of Cash App Tags, NFC-enabled physical payment accessories that allow customers to make payments without using their phone or wallet. The accessories are linked to the Cash App Visa Card.

The company released a limited run of the first model, called the Cash App Wand, which is available for purchase in the app for $25 plus applicable sales tax. The pearlescent wand includes a keychain and is designed for Cash App Card holders aged 13 and up.

"While digital wallets are invisible and physical cards are often buried in wallets, Cash App Tags are just the opposite," said Thomas Templeton, Hardware Lead at Block. "We see a unique opportunity here to make payments visible and social for the first time."

The tags work where Visa tap to pay is accepted and include security features such as real-time transaction alerts, 24/7 fraud monitoring, and the ability to lock and unlock the device through the app. Customers can also deactivate their Cash App Tag at any time.

Cash App plans to introduce additional tag designs in the coming weeks for Cash App Card holders, with general availability scheduled for later this summer. The company states that one in five American teens currently have the Cash App Card.

To use the tags, customers must have an active Cash App Card and activate their tag through the Cash App mobile application by following in-app instructions. Once activated, users can tap to pay in less than a second.

The information is based on a company press release from Block, Inc., Cash App's parent company.
