Gelteq opens China center to boost drug development operations
Gelteq Limited (NASDAQ: GELS) announced the establishment of a Center of Excellence in Guangdong Province, China, according to a company statement. The Melbourne-based biotechnology company said the facility will serve as a regional hub for product development and commercial activities.
The center is designed to support accelerated product development timelines, expanded formulation and testing capabilities, and increased capacity for multiple development programs, the company stated. Gelteq develops drug delivery technology in an ingestible gel form aimed at improving how active ingredients are absorbed by the body.
"This Center of Excellence represents a significant milestone in expanding Gelteq's global development and commercial capabilities," said Nathan Givoni, CEO of Gelteq. "Establishing a strategic presence in China enhances our ability to accelerate product development, strengthen operational scalability, and participate more closely in one of the world's fastest-growing biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovation ecosystems."
The company cited data from PharmCube indicating cross-border out-licensing transactions originating from China reached nearly $60 billion in deal value during the first quarter of 2026. Gelteq specializes in research, development and manufacturing for partners in pharmaceutical, consumer health and animal health markets.
The company said the facility aligns with strategies used by other pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies that establish regional innovation hubs to improve operational efficiency across global development pipelines. Gelteq remains focused on expanding its presence in international markets to support commercial opportunities and long-term pipeline development.
