Lamb Weston to close Netherlands production facility
Lamb Weston Holdings Inc. (NYSE: LW) announced plans to close its production facility in Broekhuizenvorst, the Netherlands, as part of efforts to align its global supply chain with market conditions.
The closure will affect approximately 110 employees at the facility. The company stated it will initiate a formal consultation process with the Works Council in accordance with Dutch regulations and will support affected team members throughout the process.
"These actions are part of our commitment to ensure the long-term resilience and competitiveness of our global supply chain network," said Sylvia Wilks, chief supply chain officer of Lamb Weston. "While this is a very difficult step, particularly given the strong commitment of our Broekhuizenvorst team, it is necessary to position us to improve our operational efficiency and better align our manufacturing footprint with customer needs."
The company plans to treat affected employees with fairness and respect while complying with applicable laws and regulations. Lamb Weston indicated it will communicate further details following completion of the consultation process.
The facility closure is part of Lamb Weston's Focus to Win strategy, which includes prioritizing markets and channels, strengthening customer partnerships, achieving operational excellence and innovation initiatives.
Lamb Weston is a frozen potato products supplier to restaurants and retailers globally. The Eagle, Idaho-based company has operated for more than 75 years in the food industry.
