Bruker demonstrates expanded microbiology diagnostics portfolio at ASM
Bruker Corporation (NASDAQ: BRKR) presented its expanded microbiology and infection diagnostics portfolio at ASM Microbe 2026, showcasing developments in microbial identification, sepsis diagnostics, molecular testing, and next-generation sequencing workflows.
The company highlighted enhanced clinical capabilities of its MALDI Biotyper CA System through FDA Claims 7 and 8, which support broader microbial identification in clinical laboratories. The system now includes MBT Compass HT CA software, MBT FAST Shuttle US IVD, and an expanded FDA-cleared reference library covering 549 clinically validated microbial species across bacteria, anaerobes, and yeasts.
Bruker introduced several new solutions for MALDI Biotyper RUO/GP systems to the U.S. market, including the MBT Easy T Kit (GP), MBT Compass HT RUO/GP v.500 with a library covering 5,325 species, and the MBT HT Library Creator (RUO). The latest library expansion adds over 600 new species, including approximately 30% improved coverage of filamentous fungi.
The company also presented the MBioSEQ Ridom Typer software (RUO) for next-generation sequencing applications, supporting reflex NGS testing as an extension of microbial identification and outbreak analysis workflows.
Bruker reported 140 new system placements in 2025 for MALDI Biotyper and IR Biotyper solutions in its U.S. microbiology business, accompanied by double-digit consumables growth. According to the company, this double-digit growth momentum continued into 2026 for both systems and consumables.
"We believe the future of microbiology lies in integrated innovations that can deliver faster, clinically actionable answers for some of the most critical patient conditions, including sepsis," said Carla Schneider, Bruker's Director Commercial Operations, Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics - Americas.
