June 4, 2026 6:45 AM

Jacobs (NYSE: J) has been selected for multiple framework contracts by SSEN Transmission to modernize Scotland's electricity transmission network, with a combined potential value exceeding $1 billion.

The contracts cover operational technology cybersecurity, substation design and digital services for the north of Scotland's power grid. Jacobs, including its PA Consulting business, secured positions on SSEN's Digital and OT Cyber Security Frameworks.

Under the operational technology framework, Jacobs will design and deploy secure operational technology environments across substations. The work includes cyber-by-design principles, network segmentation and real-time threat monitoring alongside infrastructure and control systems.

Through the digital services framework, the company will apply AI-enabled digital solutions to enhance operations across SSEN's network, supporting the utility's RIIO-T3 transformation program for energy transition in northern Scotland.

"These awards reflect the accelerating digitization of energy systems and the growing need for integrated cybersecurity, digital and engineering solutions," said Jacobs Chair and CEO Bob Pragada.

The frameworks address critical needs across SSEN's network as it becomes increasingly digital and interconnected. The work aims to strengthen grid resilience and enable greater renewable energy integration to support UK energy security priorities.

Jacobs will combine teams from its Energy & Power, Program Advisory and Digital & Data divisions alongside PA Consulting to deliver the integrated cybersecurity and digital solutions. The company has approximately $12 billion in annual revenue and employs about 47,000 people globally, including more than 6,000 across the UK.
