Bio-Techne and Refeyn launch integrated workflow for antibody analysis

June 4, 2026 6:31 AM

Bio-Techne Corporation (NASDAQ: TECH) and Refeyn announced a new integrated workflow that combines imaged capillary isoelectric focusing fractionation with mass photometry technology for analyzing bispecific antibodies and biosimilars.

The workflow integrates Bio-Techne's R&D Systems MauriceFlex imaged capillary isoelectric focusing system with Refeyn's TwoMP mass photometry platform. The combination allows researchers to analyze charge heterogeneity alongside molecular weight and aggregation at single-molecule resolution in a four-hour process.

The MauriceFlex system separates and fractionates charge variants, while the TwoMP platform analyzes size distribution and aggregation using nanogram-level samples. The workflow enables direct characterization of aggregation and size within charge variants that were previously separated by the isoelectric focusing process.

"Bispecifics are the fastest growing segment within next-generation antibodies, but they are very difficult to characterize," said Gerry Mackay, CEO of Refeyn. The integrated approach addresses characterization challenges by combining the two analytical methods in a single workflow.

Will Geist, President of Bio-Techne Protein Sciences Segment, stated that the workflow helps customers "reduce risk, control costs, and make better decisions earlier in development" for complex biologics.

The companies demonstrated the workflow using Mosunetuzumab-axgb and a biosimilar, tracking molecular changes across charge variant fractions under multiple conditions. The workflow was presented at the American Society for Mass Spectrometry conference held May 31-June 4, 2026, in San Diego.

Bio-Techne generated over $1.2 billion in net sales in fiscal year 2025 and operates 34 locations worldwide. Refeyn specializes in mass photometry solutions that measure single molecules without labels.
