Keysight adds GlobalFoundries support to photonic design software

June 3, 2026 11:01 AM

Keysight Technologies Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) announced support for GlobalFoundries' silicon photonics process technology in its Advanced Design System Photonic Designer software. The integration allows engineers to design photonic integrated circuits and validate optical link performance within a single environment.

The process design kit enables engineers to design photonic circuits on GlobalFoundries' platform and validate optical link behavior, including eye diagram analysis and signal integrity metrics, without switching between different tools. The PDK uses physics-based models aligned to GlobalFoundries' silicon photonics process.

Engineers can now move from photonic integrated circuit design to full electro-optical-electrical system simulation in one workflow, validating circuit performance at the optical link level before tapeout. The software addresses challenges in designing optical transceivers and co-packaged optics for data centers, AI infrastructure, and optical communications.

"As silicon photonics moves into broader deployment for AI infrastructure and high-speed optical communications, designers need workflows that connect device innovation with system-level performance from the start," said Vikas Gupta, Senior Fellow, Silicon Photonics Product Line at GlobalFoundries.

The integration includes foundry-aligned models for immediate use, simulation capabilities using Keysight's FlexDCA oscilloscope software for measurement correlation, and system-level evaluation during architecture development. Engineers can perform transmission dispersion eye closure quaternary analysis and other signal integrity measurements.

The GlobalFoundries CLO PDK for ADS Photonic Designer is available now, according to the company's press release.
