Alphabet's Gemini app reaches 900 million monthly users in May
Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL) reported that its Gemini app reached over 900 million monthly active users as of May, according to information from the company's investor presentation. This represents an increase from 400 million monthly active users in the same period last year.
The company also announced that its paid subscriptions recently reached 350 million users. Alphabet stated it has reduced Gemini serving costs by 78%.
The tech giant disclosed that it processes 3.2 quadrillion tokens monthly across its surfaces and that AI Overviews now serve over 2.5 billion users each month. The company expects Gemini 3.5 Pro to launch in June.
Alphabet maintained its full-year capital expenditure guidance of $180 billion to $190 billion, while indicating that capital spending will increase significantly in 2027 compared to 2026.
The company reported strong performance in its cloud division, with backlog nearly doubling quarter-over-quarter to over $460 billion. Alphabet expects to recognize over 50% of this backlog within 24 months and signed twice as many deals in the $100 million to $1 billion range during the first quarter.
