RTX unit receives $515 million Navy contract for radar systems
Raytheon, a unit of RTX (NYSE: RTX), received a $515 million contract from the U.S. Navy for its SPY-6 family of radars, according to a company statement.
The contract follows a previous $536 million Integration and Production Support contract awarded in June 2025. The new agreement includes upgrading Flight IIA destroyers with the SPY-6(V)4 variant and providing support to Germany under the Foreign Military Sales program, with potential for additional countries to join.
Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon, said the company has invested $800 million to modernize radar manufacturing facilities and expects to double SPY-6 production by 2028.
The SPY-6 radar system is currently deployed on two commissioned U.S. Navy ships and installed on 11 others undergoing testing. The Navy plans to deploy the radar on more than 50 ships over the next decade.
Raytheon manufactures the SPY-6 radars at its 30,000-square-foot Radar Development Facility in Andover, Massachusetts. The facility includes a gallium nitride foundry that produces semiconductors for the radar systems.
RTX reported 2025 sales exceeding $88 billion and employs more than 180,000 people globally. The company is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
