Wix partners with OpenAI for Codex Enterprise business site creation
Wix.com Ltd. (NASDAQ: WIX) announced it has been selected as a partner in OpenAI's Codex Enterprise launch, providing a plugin that enables users to create operational business websites directly through the AI platform.
The partnership integrates OpenAI's Codex with Wix Headless, allowing users to transform AI-generated designs into functioning businesses with e-commerce, booking systems, and customer relationship management tools. Users can deploy websites with custom domains, payment processing, and product catalogs through a single command within Codex.
The integration utilizes Wix Headless, the company's API-first platform, and its Model Context Protocol integration with OpenAI. The system includes compliance features for GDPR, PCI-DSS Level 1, and regional data regulations at the infrastructure level.
"The industry has been focused on making it easier to build things. We've been building the infrastructure to make those things operate at scale," said Shahar Talmi, GM of Developer Platform at Wix. "With Wix Headless, an AI agent doesn't just generate a storefront, it turns it into a fully functional and sustainable business."
The workflow allows users to describe a business concept in natural language within Codex, generate a visual design, and launch a live website with integrated business tools including Wix Stores, Wix Bookings, Wix Events, content management systems, and payment processing.
According to the company statement, the integration handles payment liability and maintains attribution and reversibility for all automated actions. The Wix and OpenAI integration is currently available.
