Trump says Vance and Rubio would be unbeatable in 2028
Investing.com -- President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio would form a strong team for the 2028 presidential election if they ran together.
Trump made the comments during a podcast interview with Miranda Devine that aired Wednesday. "I would think that JD and Marco as a team would be very hard to beat," Trump said. "It's interesting, human thing, the human equation. So I watch them together, they get along great," he added.
Both Vance and Rubio are viewed as potential candidates for the 2028 Republican nomination. Rubio received positive feedback from Republicans and some Democrats following his recent White House briefing, where he made jokes and used a 1990s hip-hop reference to describe Iran's negotiating position.
Trump has continued to discuss succession plans while both Vance and Rubio have minimized their 2028 ambitions. The two officials have appeared at White House briefings to respond to questions about the Trump administration, including inquiries about the Iran war.
No candidate has officially entered the race for the November 2028 election.
