Old Dominion reports 12.3% daily revenue increase in May
Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. (NASDAQ: ODFL) reported revenue per day increased 12.3% in May 2026 compared to May 2025, according to a company statement. The increase resulted from higher less-than-truckload revenue per hundredweight, partially offset by a 3.8% decrease in LTL tons per day.
The Thomasville, North Carolina-based freight carrier said LTL shipments per day declined 5.3% while LTL weight per shipment increased 1.6%. For the quarter-to-date period, LTL revenue per hundredweight increased 15.6%, and LTL revenue per hundredweight excluding fuel surcharges rose 5.4% compared to the same period in 2025.
"While our LTL tons per day declined on a year-over-year basis in both April and May, demand has continued to improve as the quarter has progressed," said Marty Freeman, president and chief executive officer.
Freeman stated the company's service metrics support yield management initiatives and ongoing improvement in LTL revenue per hundredweight. He said Old Dominion remains positioned to gain market share and drive revenue growth through execution of its strategic plan.
Old Dominion operates as one of the largest North American LTL motor carriers, providing regional, inter-regional and national services through service centers across the continental United States. The company also offers container drayage, truckload brokerage and supply chain consulting services.
