Cree LED launches XE-B LEDs in compact 0.9x1.4mm package

June 2, 2026 2:01 PM

Cree LED, a Penguin Solutions brand (NASDAQ: PENG), announced the release of XLamp XE-B LEDs, expanding its XLamp Element family with a smaller form factor for directional lighting applications.

The XE-B LEDs feature a 0.9 × 1.4 mm package designed to deliver high intensity in optical systems. The company states the LEDs provide up to 60% higher intensity compared to existing LEDs with a larger 1 x 1 mm light-emitting surface.

The products target indoor directional lighting, architectural lighting, entertainment lighting, and aftermarket automotive lighting applications where compact size and precise color control are required.

"XE-B LEDs open up exciting new possibilities for our designs," said Eduard Grigoras, Senior Electronics Manager at Lazer Lamps. "The smaller source size combined with higher intensity, allows us to use smaller optics, making our products lighter and more compact while integrating seamlessly into modern vehicle designs."

The LEDs operate at a maximum current of 1A across all colors and feature a uniform package design. The portfolio includes 17 colors plus white options in a single package design.

Eleven colors are available in production quantities with standard lead times, with additional colors planned for release later this year. The company has made samples available to customers.

The XE-B LEDs include an electrically isolated thermal pad for heat dissipation and are built on Cree LED's Element platform, which positions the LED chip close to the package edge for tighter spacing and improved optical control.

"With each new product, we aim to expand design possibilities while delivering strong performance and reliability," said Joe Clark, President of Cree LED.
