Workday announces Data Cloud integration with AWS
Workday Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY) announced that its Data Cloud will integrate with Amazon Web Services, providing developers bi-directional access to Workday's HR and finance data through AWS tools and AI services without requiring custom data pipelines.
The integration allows developers to access Workday's governed data layer directly from AWS services like Amazon Bedrock, while maintaining existing security controls and business logic. Conversely, developers building applications within Workday can access AWS data to enhance HR and finance workflows.
"When developers build systems that touch people and money, they're wiring AI into high-stakes decisions where there's no room for error," said Gabe Monroy, chief technology officer at Workday. The integration aims to reduce development time by eliminating the need to rebuild business logic that Workday already maintains.
Scott Liska, vice president of strategic accounts at AWS, stated that the integration enables customers to use HR and finance data across AI applications "without compromising on governance or speed to production."
Workday Data Cloud includes three capabilities now in early access: Workday Data Lake, which provides unified HR and finance data views; Workday Data Connect, offering bi-directional data access using Apache Iceberg; and Workday Live Data Query, enabling real-time data access through SQL and Python.
The AWS integration joins existing partnerships with Databricks, Google Cloud, Salesforce, and Snowflake. General availability for the Data Cloud capabilities is planned for later this year, with AWS integration features rolling out through early access programs over the coming quarters.
Workday Data Cloud was first announced at Workday Rising in September 2025 and is currently available to early adopter customers, according to the company's press release statement.
