Sensormatic Solutions launches sewn-in RFID tags for apparel retailers
Sensormatic Solutions, a retail technology division of Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), announced the launch of two RFID tagging products designed to be sewn directly into clothing and accessories. The RFID Seam Tag and RFID Brand Label are now available globally to retailers seeking inventory tracking without altering garment appearance.
The tags are designed to be embedded during apparel production, with the Seam Tag placed in garment seams and the Brand Label sewn according to retailer specifications. According to the company, both products aim to provide inventory visibility, loss prevention, and brand authentication capabilities throughout the supply chain.
"These tagging solutions turn inventory intelligence into comprehensive brand protection," said Tony D'Onofrio, president of Sensormatic Solutions. "They represent the next era of omnichannel retail intelligence tools, pairing full product visibility and protection in a discreet package."
The tags are built to remain with items throughout their sales cycle and are designed to be tamper-resistant. The company states they can help validate product authenticity and are difficult to remove without damaging merchandise, potentially deterring counterfeiting and return fraud.
The products are compatible with existing RFID systems and are available through Sensormatic Solutions' source tagging services. The company operates RFID Service Bureaus worldwide to support implementation.
Sensormatic Solutions will display both products at the NRF Protect conference from June 8-10 in Grapevine, Texas, at booth 1116. The announcement was made in a company press release.
