Universal Display Corporation (NASDAQ: OLED) opened its OLED Technology and Innovation Center in Chengdu, China. The facility features laboratories and a customer support center designed for materials characterization, device optimization and application development.

The Chengdu location is situated in one of China's manufacturing hubs for OLED technology. The center aims to enable closer collaboration with customers and provide direct support throughout the development cycle, according to information from the company's press release.

"The opening of our Chengdu OLED Technology and Innovation Center marks an important milestone in our continued growth in China and reinforces our long-term commitment to our customers and partners," said Steven V. Abramson, president and chief executive officer of Universal Display Corporation.

The opening event included company leaders, customers, partners and local representatives. Universal Display Corporation develops OLED technologies and materials for display and lighting applications.

The company, founded in 1994, holds more than 7,000 patents issued and pending worldwide related to OLED technology. Universal Display licenses its phosphorescent OLED technology and develops materials for OLED fabrication.
