Microbot Medical gains first North Carolina customer for robotic system
Microbot Medical Inc. (NASDAQ: MBOT) announced it secured its first customer in North Carolina for its LIBERTY Endovascular Robotic System, according to a company press release. The healthcare system operates a multi-hospital network across the state and represents the company's expansion into the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
The Massachusetts-based medical device company described the customer as a leading academic center, marking what it called the first adoption in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region. The announcement follows the full market release of the LIBERTY system, which the company describes as a single-use, remotely operated robotic solution for endovascular procedures.
"It's exciting to see the pace of increase in new accounts following the full market release of the LIBERTY system, including our newest territories in the Northeast and South-Atlantic, as some of the nation's leading health systems are adopting LIBERTY system," said Harel Gadot, CEO, President and Chairman of Microbot Medical.
The company stated it expects to penetrate other major metropolitan markets and academic institutions. Microbot Medical develops and distributes robotic technology for endovascular procedures and holds intellectual property related to its robotic systems.
The LIBERTY system received regulatory approval for commercial use, though the press release did not specify when the North Carolina healthcare system will begin using the technology or provide financial terms of the agreement.
