Tesla China EV sales jump 39% in May amid fierce local competition
Investing.com -- Tesla's China-made electric vehicle sales climbed 39.4% in May compared to the same month last year, marking the sixth consecutive month of growth for the automaker in the world's largest EV market.
The company delivered 85,982 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles from its Shanghai factory in May, according to data released Tuesday by the China Passenger Car Association. The figure includes vehicles exported to Europe and other markets.
Sales increased 8.2% from April's levels, the data showed.
The Shanghai plant serves as Tesla's main export hub for markets beyond North America, producing vehicles for customers across Europe and other regions alongside domestic Chinese deliveries.
