NIQ launches product intelligence solution for AI-driven commerce
NielsenIQ (NYSE: NIQ) announced the launch of NIQ Product Intelligence, a solution designed to transform fragmented product data into structured information for AI-driven commerce applications.
The solution addresses challenges in AI-mediated commerce environments where products lacking structured, machine-readable data may become invisible to recommendation engines and AI assistants. NIQ Product Intelligence creates a unified product intelligence layer that standardizes attributes and resolves product identity across systems.
The platform enables AI systems to interpret consumer requests beyond traditional keyword searches. For example, instead of only finding products with exact terms like "protein snack," the system can understand nuanced requests such as "a healthy chocolate brownie alternative that still feels indulgent."
"AI systems can only reason over products they can properly understand," said Troy Treangen, Chief Product Officer at NIQ. "Product Intelligence creates a structured, interoperable product layer that resolves fragmented data, enriches attributes, and enables AI systems to identify, compare, and recommend products with far greater accuracy."
The solution is built on NIQ's global commerce data infrastructure, including relationships with more than 8,900 retailers across 90 countries, a product catalog spanning more than 246 million unique items, and over 10 billion maintained product attributes.
NIQ Product Intelligence is now available in the United States. The company plans to showcase the solution at its annual C360 event scheduled for June 8-11 in San Antonio, Texas. The launch represents the first major offering within NIQ's broader Commerce Intelligence portfolio.
The solution helps brands and retailers build unified product intelligence layers, standardize product attributes, improve product matching and discoverability, and enable products to become recommendation-ready across AI commerce environments.
