Evotec appoints Rui Wang as head of global in silico and AI
Evotec SE (NASDAQ: EVO) announced the appointment of Rui Wang as Executive Vice President, Head of Global In Silico and AI. Wang brings over 20 years of experience supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations in implementing data, analytics and artificial intelligence across research and development, drug development, manufacturing and supply chain functions.
In his new role, Wang will lead the integration of computational science and data-driven decision-making across Evotec's R&D operations. The company stated the position aims to create enterprise-scale solutions that establish AI and in silico science as key components of Evotec's commercial value proposition.
Wang previously served as Head of Data, Analytics and AI at AstraZeneca, where he held roles of increasing responsibility for more than a decade. Before AstraZeneca, he worked at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory's European Bioinformatics Institute and at Tangram Therapeutics. He holds master's degrees in Bioinformatics from the University of Manchester and in System Design for Internet Applications from Newcastle University.
Chief Executive Officer Christian Wojczewski said Wang will play a role in making Evotec's drug discovery and development enterprise "a powerful engine of innovation, integration and operational efficiency." Wojczewski noted that advanced computational tools are intended to enhance the value of both the company's Drug Discovery and Preclinical Development segment and its Just - Evotec Biologics segment.
