June 1, 2026 10:25 AM

Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, a laptop targeting creators, developers and AI professionals. The device represents Microsoft's most powerful Surface Laptop to date, according to the company's press release.

The laptop features an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 128GB of unified memory and full CUDA support. The unified memory architecture allows dynamic allocation of RAM across CPU and GPU components for simultaneous AI creation, 3D rendering and multi-model workflows.

Microsoft states the device provides 1 petaflop of AI compute capability and can run up to 120 billion parameter models locally. The laptop includes a 15-inch mini-LED PixelSense Ultra touchscreen with up to 2,000 nits peak HDR brightness and 262 pixels per inch.

Connectivity options include HDMI, USB-C, USB-A, SD card slot and headphone jack. The device will be available in Platinum and Nightfall finishes.

Brett Ostrum, Corporate Vice President of Surface, described the laptop as engineered specifically for professionals working with large-scale computational tasks that exceed standard laptop capabilities.

Microsoft developed the Surface Laptop Ultra through a partnership with NVIDIA, optimizing the device for RTX Spark and Windows operating systems. The company emphasized the laptop's thermal management and structural design to handle intensive workloads.

The Surface Laptop Ultra will be available later this year. Microsoft noted that the product remains in pre-release status and features may change pending regulatory certification and approval processes.
