L3Harris expands Huntsville facility with $25 million investment
L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) announced a $25 million expansion of its Advanced Manufacturing Facility-South in Huntsville, Alabama, adding 130,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
The expansion brings L3Harris' total footprint in Huntsville to approximately 670,000 square feet across three local sites. The company stated the facility can scale rapidly using existing infrastructure.
"The additional space allows us to lean forward and surge capacity in a way that directly aligns with the Department of War's demand for critical munition acceleration," said Ken Bedingfield, President of Missile Solutions at L3Harris.
The investment represents part of L3Harris' sustained expansion in Huntsville, including what the company described as a tripling of capital spending from 2024 to 2025. Huntsville currently supports more than half of L3Harris' solid rocket motor programs with inert component production.
The facility is actively recruiting for positions including Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Project Engineering, Quality roles, and skilled trades such as Machinists and Composite Technicians.
L3Harris operates as a defense technology contractor providing solutions across space, air, land, sea and cyber domains. The information was disclosed in a company press release.
