Sophos launches Microsoft 365 backup service powered by Rubrik technology
Sophos and Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK) announced the general availability of Sophos Backup and Recovery Powered by Rubrik Cyber Resilience, a Microsoft 365 data protection service for Sophos customers worldwide.
The offering enables organizations to recover Microsoft 365 data following ransomware attacks, account compromises, insider threats, or accidental deletions through Sophos Central, the company's existing security management platform.
The service covers Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams data. It provides air-gapped, immutable backups with customer-controlled encryption and allows granular or large-scale data recovery to original or alternate users.
The solution automatically discovers new users, sites, and workloads, applying policy-driven protection through Entra ID-based controls. Security teams can manage backup and recovery operations alongside threat detection and response within a single console.
"By bringing recovery directly into the same platform where security teams detect and respond to threats, we're making cyber resilience practical," said Tom Foucha, VP product management at Sophos.
The announcement follows a strategic partnership between the companies announced in August 2025. Sophos serves more than 600,000 customers worldwide, while Sophos Central integrates more than 350 telemetry sources across various security domains.
The backup service is available as an add-on for existing Sophos customers. Customers can contact their Sophos partner or sales representative to activate the service, according to the companies' joint statement.
