IDT partners with Illumina for oncology research workflows

June 1, 2026 8:59 AM

Integrated DNA Technologies announced a collaboration with Illumina Inc. (NASDAQ: ILMN) to develop DRAGEN secondary analysis pipelines for IDT xGen FFPE and cfDNA next generation sequencing library preparation with custom panels.

The partnership creates an integrated workflow for somatic oncology research that connects IDT's library preparation with Illumina's DRAGEN secondary analysis platform. The DRAGEN Somatic for IDT Custom Panels includes a low-quality FFPE mode designed to analyze challenging samples.

IDT's xGen FFPE and cfDNA workflows currently support hundreds of thousands of samples annually, according to the press release. The collaboration aims to reduce analysis burden by streamlining the process from sample to insights for oncology researchers.

Initial workflows focusing on FFPE samples are available now. A version optimized for cfDNA liquid biopsy targeted applications will be available next year. Data analyzed in DRAGEN Somatic for IDT Custom Panels is designed for compatibility with Illumina's variant interpretation platform, Illumina Connected Insights.

"This is a step toward reshaping how genomic data is generated, analyzed, and used in research," said Konstantin Fiedler, Vice President and General Manager, Gene Reading at IDT.

The collaboration focuses on somatic oncology research applications for hybridization capture data. For anchored multiplex PCR data, IDT's Archer Analysis offers a separate platform that provides interpretation-ready results.

IDT is a Danaher company that has evolved from an oligo manufacturer to a genomics solutions provider. The company works with scientific and global health partners to enable genomics breakthroughs.
