NuCana plc (NASDAQ: NCNA) appointed Ian Webster as chief financial officer, effective June 1. Webster had served as interim chief financial officer since June 2025 and previously held the role of director of finance since joining the clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company in 2019.

Webster brings over 20 years of finance experience, including more than a decade in senior leadership positions within the biopharmaceutical sector. His background includes financial management, public company reporting, audit, tax, mergers and acquisitions, and financial planning and analysis.

Before joining NuCana, Webster served as group financial controller at Kyowa Kirin International plc from 2013 to 2019. He previously spent 11 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as a senior manager in audit and transaction services practices in the United Kingdom and Canada.

The Edinburgh-based company is developing cancer treatments using its ProTide technology to enhance nucleoside analogs. NuCana's pipeline includes NUC-7738, currently in a Phase 2 study evaluating the drug in combination with pembrolizumab for patients with metastatic melanoma, and NUC-3373, a targeted thymidylate synthase inhibitor.

Webster stated the company has a cash runway anticipated to extend into 2029, with multiple data readouts expected. The company plans to generate data in 2026 from the Phase 2 NuTide:701 study.
