Rapid7 names Wael Mohamed as CEO, Corey Thomas becomes chairman
Rapid7 Inc. (NASDAQ: RPD) announced a leadership transition with board member Wael Mohamed assuming the role of chief executive officer and current CEO Corey Thomas becoming executive chairman, effective immediately.
Mohamed brings 30 years of cybersecurity and operational experience to the Boston-based company. He founded Global Forward Capital, a cybersecurity investment firm, and previously served as CEO of Forescout, leading the company through two acquisitions. He also held successive roles at Trend Micro Group over 11 years, including president and chief operating officer.
"After joining our board last year, Wael quickly became an invaluable strategic advisor and partner to me," Thomas stated. "He has built and transformed cybersecurity companies, balancing precise execution with strategic investment."
As executive chairman, Thomas will focus on technology vision, artificial intelligence strategy, and policy initiatives while continuing to serve on the board of directors. He led Rapid7 as CEO for over 13 years through its initial public offering and expansion.
The leadership change follows recent executive appointments including Rafe Brown as chief financial officer, Allan Peters as chief commercial officer, and Dan Deklich as chief product and technology officer.
Rapid7 recently acquired Kenzo, an AI security platform, as part of its strategy to integrate managed detection and response services with exposure management capabilities.
The company reaffirmed its financial guidance for the second quarter and full year 2026, as previously provided in a May 5, 2026 press release.
Mohamed stated he joins the company with confidence to drive focus on core businesses where Rapid7 operates and concentrate resources on the AI-security operations center market.
