ZIM appoints Dr. Chen Lichtenstein as new CEO effective July 1

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. (NYSE: ZIM) announced the appointment of Dr. Chen Lichtenstein as president and chief executive officer, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Lichtenstein will also join the company's board of directors at that time.



The appointment follows the resignation of Eli Glickman, the current president and CEO, on April 15, 2026. The employment agreement with Dr. Lichtenstein requires shareholder approval under Israeli Companies Law of 1999.



Dr. Lichtenstein served as chief financial officer at Syngenta Group from 2020 to 2023, where he was responsible for strategy, integration and productivity. From 2014 to 2020, he was president and CEO of ADAMA Ltd., formerly Makhteshim Agan Industries Ltd., leading the company through growth and integration with ChemChina's operations and a listing on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.



Prior to ADAMA, Dr. Lichtenstein served as president and CEO of China National Agrochemical Corporation from 2013 to 2014. From 2006 to 2013, he held various roles at Makhteshim Agan Industries, including deputy chief executive officer and head of global operations. He previously worked as a senior investment banking executive at Goldman Sachs in New York and London from 1999 to 2006.



Dr. Lichtenstein currently serves on the board of directors at Teva Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and chairs boards at international companies in environmental sciences and biotechnology. He holds doctoral degrees from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business and School of Law, plus degrees from Hebrew University of Jerusalem.



Yair Seroussi, chairman of ZIM's board, stated that Dr. Lichtenstein brings extensive managerial experience and strategic insight to lead the company. Dr. Lichtenstein said he looks forward to maintaining the company's stability and strengthening its business capabilities.



The appointment was made following a search process conducted by board directors including Seroussi, Dr. Yoram Turbowicz and Yair Avidan.
