Uber and Autobrains to launch robotaxi program in Munich using NVIDIA tech

June 1, 2026 2:50 AM

Uber (NYSE: UBER) and Autobrains announced a collaboration to launch a robotaxi program in Munich, combining Uber's ride-hailing platform with Autobrains' autonomous driving technology and NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform.

The program, announced at GTC Taipei, is pending regulatory approval and aims to establish what the companies describe as an OEM-agnostic model for autonomous ride-hailing across vehicle platforms. Munich was selected as the initial deployment city.

Autobrains' technology uses what it calls "Agentic AI," which breaks down driving tasks into specialized agents rather than relying on a single autonomous driving model. Each agent focuses on specific driving contexts and makes real-time decisions.

"Autonomous driving will not scale by relying on a single model to solve every driving scenario," said Igal Raichelgauz, CEO and Founder of Autobrains. "It requires systems that can reason, adapt, and make decisions under uncertainty."

The collaboration integrates three components: Autobrains' autonomous driving technology, NVIDIA's DRIVE Hyperion platform, and Uber's mobility network. The program is designed to operate within Uber's existing ride-hailing ecosystem.

"This program creates a new path to do that by combining vehicle-agnostic autonomy, leading AI compute, and Uber's ride-hailing platform," said Sarfraz Maredia, Global Head of Autonomous Mobility & Delivery at Uber.

Autobrains holds over 300 patents and works with automotive manufacturers and suppliers on autonomous driving systems. The Munich program represents the companies' approach to scaling autonomous ride-hailing from individual deployments to fleet operations across multiple vehicle platforms.

The announcement was based on a press release statement from the companies.
