Tompkins Community Bank names John Huhtala as Central New York market president
Tompkins Community Bank appointed John Huhtala as president of its Central New York market, according to a company announcement. Huhtala will oversee the bank's market presence in the region, focusing on client relationships, business development, community engagement and organizational collaboration.
Huhtala brings 28 years of experience in commercial banking, sales leadership and relationship management. He currently serves as commercial banking regional manager in Ithaca, New York at Tompkins. Prior to joining Tompkins, he held leadership positions at JPMorgan Chase, HSBC and NBT Bank.
"John is a highly respected leader with a strong track record of building teams, growing relationships and representing the organization with integrity in the community," said Phillip M. Quintana, president of Tompkins Community Bank.
Huhtala holds an MBA from Binghamton University and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Nazareth College. His community involvement includes board and leadership roles with CenterState CEO, Syracuse Stage, On Point for College, and Vera House.
The executive will maintain his primary office in Ithaca while working to strengthen Tompkins' presence across Central New York. Founded in 1836, Tompkins Community Bank serves regions of New York and Southeastern Pennsylvania, offering commercial and consumer banking services along with wealth management through its Tompkins Financial Advisors brand.
