Aptevo Therapeutics names Mary Janatpour as chief scientific officer
Aptevo Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: APVO) appointed Mary J. Janatpour as Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer, the clinical-stage biotechnology company announced.
Janatpour brings more than 25 years of oncology research and development experience across biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations. She will lead Aptevo's research and preclinical development efforts and advance the company's pipeline of multispecific therapeutics based on its ADAPTIR and ADAPTIR-FLEX platform technologies.
The appointment comes as Aptevo focuses clinically on mipletamig while advancing a preclinical strategy that includes a radiopharmaceutical therapeutic collaboration with Niowave and an expanding multispecific oncology pipeline.
"Mary joins Aptevo at a pivotal moment as we continue to focus clinically on mipletamig while advancing a broader preclinical strategy," said Jeff Lamothe, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aptevo.
Janatpour previously held senior scientific leadership roles at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, Schering-Plough Biopharma and Chiron, focusing on oncology biologics target identification and validation. She has also led oncology discovery and translational strategy for biotechnology companies advancing therapeutic molecules and platforms in immuno-oncology.
Aptevo develops novel bispecific and trispecific immunotherapies for cancer treatment, with two clinical candidates and six preclinical candidates designed to target solid tumors. The company's pipeline candidates are created from its proprietary ADAPTIR and ADAPTIR-FLEX platforms.
Janatpour holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Francisco, and completed postdoctoral training in Immunology at the DNAX Research Institute.
