ASPEED Technology and Lattice form partnership for datacenter control
ASPEED Technology and Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC) announced a strategic partnership to develop control capabilities for datacenter systems, according to a press release statement.
The collaboration has produced the AST1840 Satellite Management Controller, which combines platform management with programmable control capabilities. The device integrates an Arm-based processing subsystem with an embedded FPGA to enable adaptable functionality for server infrastructure.
The AST1840 uses the LTPI interface to connect with and extend management capabilities of Baseboard Management Controllers. It supports the OBMF-ICP standard protocol defined by the Open Compute Project through dual USB interfaces and includes Streaming Boot functionality based on Caliptra 2.x Root of Trust.
"AST1840 is an important step in delivering flexible management solutions for modern server platforms," said Chris Lin, Chairman and President of ASPEED Technology. "By integrating programmable capabilities within our platform, we are enabling customers to adapt their designs as requirements evolve."
Ford Tamer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lattice Semiconductor, stated that the collaboration "brings programmable control closer to the BMC platform, enabling customers to build solutions that can be extended and deployed across a broad range of systems."
The AST1840 is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2026. ASPEED specializes in Baseboard Management Controllers, while Lattice focuses on low-power programmable FPGA technology.
Both companies plan to explore additional opportunities to extend programmable control capabilities across future platforms. The partnership aims to address the evolving requirements of datacenter architectures driven by AI workloads and modular designs.
