Vishay expands IHXL inductor series with four new high-current devices

May 27, 2026 11:00 AM

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the expansion of its IHXL series of radial through-hole inductors with four new devices designed for high-current applications up to 209 amperes.

The company introduced the automotive-grade IHXL1500VZ-3A and IHXL-2000VZ-3A models, along with commercial versions IHXL1500VZ-31 and IHXL-2000VZ-31. The devices feature a new iron alloy core material that reduces core losses by 20% compared to previous-generation products while decreasing temperature rise.

The inductors operate at temperatures up to 155°C and offer inductance values ranging from 0.68 to 10 microhenries. The 1500 case size measures 38.1mm x 38.1mm x 21.89mm and supports currents from 55A to 180A, while the larger 2000 case size measures 50.8mm x 50.8mm x 21.7mm and handles currents from 83A to 209A.

According to the company, the devices are intended for use as high-current input filters, DC/DC converters, and DC-link filters in battery charging systems, brushless DC motors, and power factor correction applications across automotive, industrial, and renewable energy sectors.

The inductors feature magnetically shielded construction with pressed powdered iron bodies designed to contain electromagnetic interference. The design includes thick internal copper conductors and soft saturation core material to maintain stable inductance across varying load conditions.

Vishay stated the new inductors are priced lower than previous-generation IHXL series devices and are available with 14-week lead times. The products meet RoHS compliance standards and are halogen-free.
