Roku launches redesigned home screen for streaming devices
Roku Inc. (NASDAQ: ROKU) announced a redesigned home screen for its streaming platform that will reach over 100 million households. The update represents the first significant change to Roku's home screen interface in over a decade.
The new home screen includes personalized content recommendations, quick access to frequently used apps, and genre-based content sections. Features include a "Top Picks for You" section driven by user data, a "Subscriptions" area for browsing content across services, and "Your Daily Scoop" highlighting trending shows.
"When we set out to rethink the Home Screen, we knew we should listen to the people who use it every day," said Anthony Wood, Founder and CEO of Roku. "Now, our new Home Screen puts entertainment at the center of everything, while staying true to Roku's simple, intuitive roots."
The interface uses what Roku describes as intelligence models to customize the home screen experience for individual viewers from billions of possible combinations. Additional features include enhanced search functionality, a collapsible menu, and shortcuts to saved content and viewing history.
The rollout begins today across Roku TVs and streaming devices in the United States, with expansion to other countries planned for coming months. Roku cited a Harris Poll from April 2026 indicating 82% of streamers would prefer their desired content to appear directly on their TV's home screen when powered on.
The company states it is the top TV streaming platform by hours streamed in the United States, Canada, and Mexico according to Hypothesis Group data from December 2025.
