Ingredion Incorporated (NYSE: INGR) reported that 96.3% of its tier 1 priority crops are now sustainably sourced, up from 25% five years ago, according to the company's 2025 sustainability report released May 27.

The tier 1 priority crops include corn, tapioca, potato, stevia and pulses. The company follows industry standards for sustainable sourcing that include verified measurement methods to ensure crops meet specific environmental and social thresholds during planting, growing, harvesting and processing.

"Five years ago, sustainable sourcing for corn, tapioca, potato, stevia and pulses measured just 25%," said Larry Fernandes, senior vice president, chief commercial and sustainability officer.

The Westchester, Illinois-based ingredient solutions provider also reported additional sustainability metrics in its 2025 report. The company diverted 95% of total waste from landfills and achieved zero waste to landfills at 16 manufacturing facilities. Ingredion defines zero waste as less than 0.5% of a plant's solid waste going to landfill or waste incineration without energy recovery.

The company expanded its upcycled ingredients portfolio to more than 50 products verified as Upcycled Certified. Ingredion also launched a human rights policy and expanded its responsible sourcing program.

Ingredion serves customers in more than 120 countries and reported 2025 annual net sales of approximately $7.2 billion. The company operates innovation centers globally and employs more than 11,000 people, turning grains, fruits, vegetables and other plant-based materials into ingredient solutions for food, beverage, animal nutrition, brewing and industrial markets.
