Cognizant partners with Travelport and Anthropic on AI travel platform
Cognizant (NASDAQ: CTSH) announced a collaboration with Travelport and Anthropic to deploy artificial intelligence technology across Travelport's travel retailing and distribution platforms. The partnership will use Anthropic's Claude AI model to modernize how Travelport builds, tests and maintains software for airlines, hotels, travel management companies and online travel agencies.
The collaboration aims to address challenges in current booking systems, where travel agents manually piece together complex itineraries and a gap exists between AI-powered travel searches and what platforms can process. Travelport's platform will integrate AI features to reduce manual work for travel agents, including automated exchanges and rebooking capabilities.
"This collaboration is about giving Travelport the tools to move faster and deliver higher quality at scale to meet the challenge of a changing travel distribution landscape," said Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant.
The initial focus will be on Travelport Trip Services, which handles bookings, exchanges, refunds and servicing. The companies plan to build an MCP-based interface layer on Travelport's cloud-native platform, with customer-facing capabilities expected to reach market this year.
Cognizant will integrate Claude within its engineering platforms, including its Neuro-san open-source library. The AI will assist with code development, test creation and pull-request review. Claude's large context window will analyze Travelport's codebases to identify embedded business logic.
"Reasoning across large, complex codebases is where Claude is at its best — and that's exactly what travel infrastructure demands," said Rich O'Connell, Head of Alliances at Anthropic.
The collaboration extends a strategic partnership between Cognizant and Anthropic announced in November 2025. Information is based on a company press release.
