Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) announced that its SmartCharts aviation charting solution is now available on Garmin Pilot Web, the company's flight planning website that complements its mobile app.

SmartCharts provides simplified terminal procedures including instrument approach procedures, departure procedures and standard terminal arrival routes. The charting tool integrates weather and NOTAM data to show impacts on flight procedures and equipment requirements during flight planning.

The solution uses digitized data from global sources to create charts that automatically adjust and scale as pilots zoom and pans within the interface. The system highlights details that may be overlooked on traditional charts and automatically calculates adjustments to minima due to NOTAMs and other factors.

"SmartCharts have completely changed how pilots plan and brief instrument flights, and this capability now comes to Garmin Pilot Web," said Carl Wolf, Garmin Vice President Aviation Sales, Marketing, Programs & Support. "The decluttered terminal procedures allow pilots to focus on the most relevant and key information for their flight."

Users can customize charts by selecting aircraft type, runway, and route transitions to display only relevant information. The system includes approach vertical profile views showing terrain and obstacles along approach paths.

SmartCharts are available with a Premium subscription in the United States and the Bahamas. Garmin Pilot Web was launched in 2025 to allow users to access the flight planning tool on computers, with flights syncing to mobile devices.

SmartCharts airport diagrams are currently available in the Garmin Pilot mobile app on iOS devices and will be added to Garmin Pilot Web in the future, according to the press release.
