Emerson partners with SiMa.ai to bring AI to industrial computing

May 26, 2026 9:02 AM

Emerson (NYSE: EMR) announced a collaboration with SiMa.ai to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities into its industrial personal computers for real-time data analysis in manufacturing and remote industrial environments.

The partnership combines SiMa.ai's MLSoC (Machine Learning System on Chip) technology with Emerson's ruggedized industrial PCs to enable AI processing directly at industrial sites without requiring cloud connectivity. The systems can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and withstand high vibration and shock conditions.

According to IOT Analytics data cited in the announcement, the global industrial AI market reached $43.6 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at a 23% compound annual growth rate through 2030 to reach $153.9 billion.

"As operations teams leverage Physical AI at the edge, they move beyond simple monitoring to closed-loop autonomy where they can adjust processes in real time," said Krishna Rangasayee, chief executive officer of SiMa.ai.

The integrated technology targets applications including safety monitoring, equipment performance analysis, quality inspection, and predictive maintenance across industries such as oil and gas, automotive manufacturing, and semiconductor production.

Ram Krishnan, chief operating officer of Emerson, stated that the partnership "brings specialized AI computing technology to our industrial PCs that – combined with our integrated sensor technology, edge software and enterprise analytics – delivers the complete AI solution industrial organizations need."

The systems are designed to process images, video, audio, text and sensor data locally while maintaining data security on-premise. Applications include detecting gas leaks, fire and smoke, equipment anomalies, and product defects during manufacturing processes.
