DePuy Synthes signs exclusive distribution deal with CGBIO for bone graft
DePuy Synthes, a unit of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ), announced an exclusive distribution agreement with CGBIO for NOVOSIS, a bone graft substitute containing growth factors, in the United States, Canada and Australia.
NOVOSIS is designed for use across orthopaedic procedures including spine, craniomaxillofacial and trauma applications. The product is currently undergoing an investigational device exemption study for spine procedures in the United States to evaluate safety and effectiveness.
Under the agreement terms, DePuy Synthes holds exclusive distribution rights for the three markets and rights of first negotiation for additional global markets. The partnership follows a previous agreement between Johnson & Johnson and CGBIO for distribution rights in Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Hong Kong and Macau in February 2025.
"This collaboration reflects our continued focus on strengthening our portfolio with differentiated technologies that address unmet needs and support patient care," said Namal Nawana, Worldwide President of DePuy Synthes.
CGBIO specializes in regenerative medicine biotechnology. The bone graft substitute represents an expansion of DePuy Synthes' orthopaedic portfolio, which includes joint reconstruction, trauma, spinal surgery and sports medicine solutions.
Future commercialization of NOVOSIS will depend on clinical data and regulatory approval. The information was disclosed in a company press release.
