BitGo completes first post-quantum transaction simulation by regulated custodian

May 26, 2026 8:01 AM

BitGo Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BTGO) and Silence Laboratories Pte. Ltd completed what they describe as the first post-quantum transaction simulation by a regulated custodian using multi-party computation wallet infrastructure.

The demonstration was conducted at a private industry event and brought together researchers and security leaders from Google, Stanford, the Linux Foundation, and financial institutions. The transaction used Silence Laboratories' PQ MPC protocol based on ML-DSA, the digital signature algorithm standardized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in FIPS 204.

The collaboration aims to develop quantum-safe wallet infrastructure for institutional digital asset custody and transaction signing. The simulated transaction demonstrated how post-quantum signing can be integrated into institutional wallet workflows while maintaining MPC benefits including distributed key control and policy enforcement.

"Quantum computing has moved from theoretical discussion to an infrastructure planning priority for the digital asset industry," said Mike Belshe, CEO and Co-founder of BitGo. "Institutions are asking how they can prepare without compromising security, control, or operational resilience."

Jay Prakash, CEO and Co-founder of Silence Laboratories, noted that digital assets face particular risks as existing systems rely on signature schemes not designed to withstand quantum threats. "We recently launched a PQ-MPC wallet infrastructure that addresses this concern," he said.

The companies plan to continue developing and testing the solution with select customers, financial institutions, and blockchain ecosystem participants. Their focus includes interoperability, institutional policy controls, auditability, and deployment models for regulated market participants.

BitGo provides digital asset infrastructure services including custody, wallets, and trading from regulated cold storage. The company operates BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association, which it describes as the first federally chartered digital asset trust bank owned by a publicly traded company.
