Jacobs (NYSE: J) and Stantec have been selected as engineering services partners for Greater Western Water's five-year Infrastructure Planning and Delivery Program in Melbourne's western region, according to a company press release.

The joint venture will provide engineering and advisory services for water and wastewater networks, treatment plants and dams across a 3,700-square-kilometer area serving more than 580,000 customers. Services include options assessment, functional and detailed design, groundwater and surface water assessments, and construction support.

Greater Western Water's General Manager of Asset Planning and Delivery Ian Burton said the partnership "plays an important role in shaping how we plan and design infrastructure, bringing strong expertise to support projects across our service area."

The appointment extends Jacobs' existing relationship with Greater Western Water, where it has served as engineering and delivery partner for eight years. The program uses an integrated project delivery model designed to improve collaboration and efficiency.

Jacobs Executive Vice President Sinead Giblin said rapid population growth in Melbourne's western region requires water infrastructure that can "scale efficiently and reliably."

The program will include social procurement initiatives, engagement with Indigenous-owned businesses and employment pathways for local job seekers and graduates.

Dallas-based Jacobs reported approximately $12 billion in annual revenue and employs about 47,000 people globally. The company operates 13 offices across Australia with more than 2,600 employees.
