Ouster partners with ARGUS to supply lidar for drone interceptor systems
Ouster Inc. (NASDAQ: OUST) announced a strategic agreement with ARGUS Interception GmbH to supply digital lidar technology for integration into ARGUS's A1-Falke net-based drone interceptor systems.
Under the agreement, Ouster will provide its digital lidar sensors for direct integration into the A1-Falke interceptor to enhance precision during the interception process. The A1-Falke system captures uncooperative drones using net launcher technology and incorporates multiple sensors including radar, lidar, and depth-sensing cameras.
The system monitors airspace, detects invasive drones, and intercepts them through automated net launcher technology, bringing captured drones to the ground intact for potential forensic evaluation. ARGUS designed the system for use in environments where traditional kinetic countermeasures are not viable.
"Responsible counter-UAS measures depend on reliable sensors and controllable procedures," said Dennis Rauscher, co-founder and CEO of ARGUS Interception GmbH. "With Ouster, we are integrating lidar technology that further strengthens the precision and reliability of our net-based interception capability."
ARGUS will also explore capabilities with Ouster's Rev8 digital lidar, which includes 3D color sensing and longer-range detection for high-speed applications. The collaboration aims to provide enhanced situational awareness for automated counter-drone operations.
Cyrille Jacquemet, Chief Revenue Officer of Ouster, stated that precise situational awareness at close range is essential as drone threats become more sophisticated. The company supplies digital lidar for various applications including industrial, robotics, automotive, and smart infrastructure sectors.
ARGUS Interception, founded in 2023 by former German Armed Forces officers, develops counter-drone systems for armed forces, public authorities, and critical infrastructure operators. The information is based on a company press release.
