WRAP develops low-light VR training scenarios for police officers

May 22, 2026 8:01 AM

Wrap Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: WRAP) announced development of low-light training scenarios for its WrapReality virtual reality platform designed for law enforcement training.

The company is creating nighttime and low-light versions of 15 to 20 existing training scenarios in the WrapReality library. These scenarios will simulate realistic low-visibility conditions that officers may encounter during patrol, building searches, and outdoor encounters.

"Low-light encounters are a major part of patrol work, but they have historically been difficult to replicate safely, consistently, and at scale," said Jared Novick, President of WRAP.

The expanded scenario library is intended to help officers practice decision-making when verbal commands, subject behavior, environmental lighting, and force-option selection must be evaluated simultaneously. WRAP stated the training aims to help officers recognize intervention windows and maintain distance before escalating to higher force options.

WRAP is also developing a handheld, directional light-based accessory for the WrapReality platform to replicate managing a handheld light source alongside other duty tools during encounters. The company is expanding support for weapon-mounted lights within low-light scenarios, building on previously available pistol-mounted light functionality in limited scenarios.

The Miami-based company describes itself as a provider of non-lethal response technologies and public safety equipment. WRAP's portfolio includes the BolaWrap 150 device, WrapReality training platform, WrapVision body-worn camera system, and counter-drone solutions.

According to the company, the BolaWrap 150 device is used by over 1,000 agencies across the United States and in 60 countries. The device deploys what the company calls a multi-sensory disruption without shooting, striking, or incapacitating subjects.
