BioLineRx and Hemispherian to present GLIX1 data at ASCO 2026

May 22, 2026 7:01 AM

BioLineRx Ltd. (NASDAQ: BLRX) and Hemispherian AS announced that two abstracts featuring their experimental cancer drug GLIX1 will be published at the American Society of Clinical Oncology 2026 Annual Meeting, scheduled for May 29-June 2 in Chicago.

The first abstract describes GLIX1 as a first-in-class oral small molecule designed to target DNA damage response by restoring TET2 enzyme activity. Preclinical studies showed the drug demonstrated antitumor activity in multiple glioblastoma xenograft models and achieved brain exposure of 68-85% of plasma levels in mice. Safety studies indicated the drug was well-tolerated at doses up to 2000mg/kg in rats and 1000mg/kg in dogs.

The second abstract explores combining GLIX1 with PARP inhibitors. Preclinical studies across cancer cell lines showed the combination produced cytotoxic effects, including in tumor types typically less responsive to PARP inhibition alone.

BioLineRx initiated a first-in-human Phase 1/2a clinical trial of GLIX1 in glioblastoma in March 2026. The dose escalation portion expects to recruit up to 30 patients with recurrent and progressive glioblastoma and other high-grade gliomas. Updates are anticipated in the second half of 2026, with full results expected in 2027.

GLIX1 targets the TET2 pathway, which is commonly inhibited in cancer. The drug is designed to overwhelm DNA repair capacity in cancer cells, resulting in cell death. Glioblastoma is the most common primary brain tumor and remains highly treatment-resistant.

The information is based on a press release from the companies.
