Royal Thai Air Force orders two Airbus C295 transport aircraft
Investing.com -- The Royal Thai Air Force has purchased two Airbus C295 aircraft in tactical transport configuration, set to be operated by the 46th Wing Division from Phitsanulok air base.
The aircraft will be assembled at Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Seville, Spain, with the first delivery scheduled in the first half of 2029.
Thailand currently operates three C295 aircraft under the Royal Thai Army, which have been performing cargo and troop transport missions since 2016.
The C295 transport aircraft can carry 70 troops or 49 paratroopers and is capable of operating on unprepared runways. The aircraft can perform cargo and paratrooper drops and conduct medical evacuation missions.
Airbus maintains a partnership with Thai Aviation Industries for maintenance support of the C295 fleet through advanced training programs.
Thailand joins six other countries in the Asia-Pacific region operating the C295. The aircraft holds 85% market share in its segment, with 333 orders from 39 countries across four continents. The global C295 fleet has accumulated 750,000 flight hours.
