Ocean Power Technologies expands deployments to five US systems
Ocean Power Technologies Inc. (NYSE American: OPTT) announced an expansion of its global deployment operations across government, international, and research customers, according to a company statement.
The company increased its PowerBuoy deployments in the United States from one research-focused system to five concurrent deployments. Three systems support U.S. Department of Homeland Security activities, one supports Department of War research for the U.S. Navy, and one supports a U.S.-based research institution.
The company said this expansion represents a transition from initial research deployments toward broader multi-agency use.
Internationally, Ocean Power Technologies operates three WAM-V autonomous surface vehicles and one PowerBuoy in the United Arab Emirates. Additional WAM-V deployments support customer activities in Taiwan and other regions.
Ocean Power Technologies is displaying its WAM-V platform at Special Operations Forces Week in Tampa, which serves the global Special Operations Forces community.
The company provides marine power, data, and service solutions focused on offshore monitoring and autonomous maritime capabilities.
