GoPro launches MISSION 1 camera series with 8K video capability

GoPro Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRO) announced its new MISSION 1 Series cameras are available for pre-order, with shipping scheduled to begin May 28. The company released three camera models featuring a 50MP sensor and GP3 processor.

The MISSION 1 PRO, priced at $699.99 ($599.99 for subscribers), offers 8K60 and 4K240 video recording capabilities along with 50MP photo capture. The MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition includes an additional grip accessory and costs $779.99 ($679.99 for subscribers). The standard MISSION 1 model, limited to 4K120 video recording, is priced at $599.99 ($499.99 for subscribers).

GoPro also introduced accompanying accessories including the Point-and-Shoot Grip ($99.99), Enduro 2 Battery ($34.99), M-Series ND Filters ($99.99), and Protective Housing ($59.99). The Enduro 2 Battery provides up to 5 hours of recording at 1080p30 and 3 hours at 4K30 on a single charge.

The cameras feature waterproof capability to 66 feet without housing and 196 feet with the protective housing. All products will be available through GoPro.com and retail stores beginning May 28.

The announcement comes as GoPro seeks to expand into higher-end camera markets with enhanced video recording capabilities and professional-grade features. The company stated the cameras are designed for filmmakers and content creators requiring high-resolution video in demanding environments.
