Chevron launches reformulated Techron gasoline additive in US
Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) announced the introduction of next-generation Techron, a reformulated version of its gasoline additive now available at U.S. Chevron and Texaco stations across all fuel grades.
The updated formulation is designed to provide protection for engines from deposits caused by lower quality fuels. According to the company, when used consistently, fuels with next-generation Techron are formulated to clean up to 100 percent of harmful deposits left by lower quality fuels, based on GDI-injector testing using industry-standard methods.
"Fuel technology never stands still," said Andy Walz, president of Chevron Downstream, Midstream and Chemicals. "This new Techron formulation builds on what drivers already expect from our branded fuels – clean engines, reliable performance and confidence at the pump – while reinforcing our continued focus on science‑based innovation."
Chevron stated that all claims for the new formulation are supported by testing conducted by company scientists, chemists and engineers. The validation process included laboratory testing, engine studies and benchmarking against competitive fuels.
Techron has been included in Chevron and Texaco branded gasolines for decades. The company described the reformulation as part of its continued investment in fuel quality and scientific testing to meet the requirements of current engines and driving conditions.
The information is based on a company press release statement.
