DocuSign launches AI assistant and agents for contract workflows

May 21, 2026 8:02 AM

DocuSign (NASDAQ: DOCU) announced new artificial intelligence capabilities at its Momentum conference, introducing an AI assistant called Iris and automated agents designed to streamline contract processes across business functions.

The company's Intelligent Agreement Management platform now features AI tools that can review agreements against company standards, suggest edits, request approvals, and monitor contracts for risks and obligations. Teams can create custom agents through Agent Studio to handle specific workflows for deals, renewals, and approvals.

The platform integrates with business applications including Coupa, Microsoft Copilot, Salesforce, SAP, and Slack. DocuSign also connects with AI models from Anthropic Claude, Gemini, and OpenAI ChatGPT through its Model Context Protocol, allowing users to manage agreements using natural language within existing tools.

The company expanded its platform with IAM for HR, which automates employee agreement processes and includes mobile I-9 verification, and IAM for Sales, which embeds agreement workflows directly into CRM systems like HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Salesforce. AI-powered Web Forms convert PDF documents into interactive digital forms.

A Deloitte report cited by DocuSign found that organizations using AI-driven workflows with end-to-end agreement platforms see nearly 30% higher return on investment compared to those without such systems.

The AI assistant, agents, and Agent Studio are available in early access in the United States, with broader U.S. rollout beginning in July. IAM for HR enters early access in June, while IAM for Sales is available globally. AI-assisted Web Forms launch globally in June.

DocuSign serves approximately 40,000 customers globally and reports that over 1.8 million customers and more than one billion people across 180 countries use its solutions.
